SYNAGOGUE

On the western edge of the city center stands the biggest synagogue in the Czech Republic and at the same time the second biggest synagogue in Europe and the third biggest in the whole world, built between the years 1888-1893 in the Moorish-Romanesque style recalling the one-time prosperous Jewish community in Plzeň. The interiors with perfect acoustics house concerts and exhibitions. Tourists can also visit the Old Synagogue and the remarkable Garden of Memories – a peculiar pious place, recalling individual victims of the holocaust in the Plzeň township.
